1/14/2024 0 Comments Graduation photo gunYou probably don’t need to bring more than two lenses to your shoot – a good set of two lenses will give you a range of focal lengths (e.g. Other great options include 85mm prime, 105mm prime, and 70-200mm zoom lenses. A great, usually inexpensive option is a 50mm f/1.8 prime lens, which won’t zoom but will be sharp and produce a nice bokeh. For portraits of an individual, the ideal lens will stop to somewhere around f/2.8 and wider, allowing for a blurry background and nice bokeh. Portrait lenses typically have a wide maximum aperture. However, just about any camera that allows you to control settings (especially aperture, read below) will do. The ideal camera for this kind of photography is a DSLR or mirrorless camera that allows you to change lenses. The nice thing about graduation portraits is that they don’t require much specialized camera gear, but here are a few recommendations for you to consider. A graduation photo with a school mascot sculpture. Double-check with them to see if they have any questions. It’s a good idea to remind and confirm with your client a day or two before the shoot. They might want a few shots in their future school or employer’s attire, which is an easy way to add variety to the shoot. If possible, have them take all of their graduation attire out of its packaging and get any wrinkles out before the shoot (this includes the cap and stole).Īsk what your graduate’s plans for the future are. Make sure they know to wear nice clothes under their gown, so that you can do a few shots without the gown. Talk to your client about what they’re going to wear. Consider using a photo planning app such as PhotoPills or The Photographer’s Ephemeris to confirm ideal light timing for your location(s). Pick a time when the light won’t be too harsh, generally an hour or so before sunset. Remember that most campuses are quite busy during the week, so you might want to plan a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday evening shoot. Work with your client to see what they would like, and keep in mind that most graduation portraits are done at least partially on the graduate’s campus. Start by emailing or calling, and if you’re comfortable with it, share your cell phone number to either text or call on the day of the shoot.įirst of all, figure out your shoot location(s). This process is slightly more involved than it might be for other types of portraits. These are very similar to the stole above they drape around the neck and hang at the graduate’s sides. Some will have an emblem or logo, so make sure you can see that in your photographs. It’s easy to put on, and as the photographer, make sure the two ends are even throughout the shoot. This is a sash that is worn around the neck during graduation. Most gowns can zip, so you might want to take some photographs with them zipped and unzipped. The tassel is normally situated on the front right side of the cap before the graduation ceremony, and on the front left side of the cap after the graduation ceremony. The tassel is attached at the top of the cap under a button. The top of the cap should be parallel to the ground. The pointed end of the cap should stick straight out in front of the graduate in a diamond shape. The back of the cap will be slightly “deeper” than the front, and the cap just goes on like a normal hat once the direction is correct. Here’s a summary of each common part of the graduation outfit. If your shoot is before the ceremony, chances are good your graduate will want some guidance. It’s important to learn what attire you’ll be working with so that you can make sure everything is in order. Schools are often limited in visitor parking, so make sure you and your client have a plan. Make sure you know where to meet your client, and research parking beforehand.

1/14/2024 0 Comments Unpacking gamesUnpacking is available now on Steam, the Microsoft Store, and the Nintendo eShop for $19.99. This review is based on an Xbox digital code provided by the publisher. If only actual unpacking could be such a calm exercise. The only real downside to it is that it's an all-too-brief experience, wrapping up in just a few hours.Īs someone who generally hates sorting things out and often leaves boxes out for weeks at a time, I can say that Unpacking is a much better experience than the real thing. However, if you remove the placement restrictions, this is a game where you can sit back, soak in the music, and enjoy a pressure-free story. Unpacking largely succeeds at creating a calming experience, which is funny, because there's usually nothing "calm" about moving into a new home. I would have loved for an option to rotate the camera, so I could squeeze objects into those hard-to-reach places. So if there's a back corner that you want to tuck an object into, it's not always reachable. Unfortunately, no God Mode can save Unpacking's other issue, which is that it operates on a fixed camera angle. This might be a weird description for it, considering this is supposed to be a zen puzzle game about unpacking boxes, but think of it as a sort of God Mode. There's an option that allows players to put anything where they want without restriction, which takes a lot of the frustration out. When it ended, I had a sense of relief and that's probably not what I was ultimately supposed to get out of it.įortunately, Unpacking's accessibility options are a big help here. When each stage started, I walked in with enthusiasm. This only got worse as the game progressed and I had to move into a house with multiple rooms. The goal was now to find spots for these wayward items, but there was often no room left to place anything, which meant something else had to be moved. So, for me, the relaxation basically stopped, because now the whole thing turned into a frustration exercise. This is where I note that I'm prone to panic attacks. That's the game basically saying, "No, no, no, this cannot go here." That should naturally be the end of it, but suddenly, objects start glowing red. Eventually, the boxes eventually become empty and everything is laid out just as you want it. While I enjoyed Unpacking's main concept, a few things started to make the overall experience feel awry. It's a nice touch that injects some extra personality and a greater sense of continuity into what's otherwise a pretty basic puzzle game. More details about her life are gradually revealed through a soft-spoken voiceover. It's a small feature, but one that feels rewarding.Īs the moving days wrap up, players learn more about the unnamed protagonist. Once all of the boxes are gone and the freedom's there to just sort things out and make it more to your liking, it starts to feel more like your personal space. It's a "learn as you go" kind of process, one that lets you further soak in the game's atmosphere.Īs you go, you can turn the whole area into a picturesque landscape, one that you can later share with friends. And, for the most part, it can, but the frames seem to be meant more for walls. For example, I'd frequently find picture frames that I assume can be laid on a desk. It's not always obvious where certain objects can go. Simply sit back, listen to the soothing music in the background, and place objects wherever you'd like. That's because it's meant to be a relaxation exercise. There aren't a lot of restrictions in Unpacking. The common factor is that each of these places have giant boxes filled with necessities and knick-knacks, all of which must be sorted and placed onto different areas. It starts from her childhood, where she moves into her first house, and ventures forward into adulthood. Unpacking puts players in the role of a mysterious person across various phases of her life. And, while it mostly works, it ultimately proves impossible to remove all of the stress. Developer Witch Beam is looking to take a lot of the torture out of the practice of moving into a new home with its latest game, Unpacking. Packing everything into boxes, making sure everything fits, making sure nothing breaks, making sure the whole thing isn't too heavy, it all adds up to a blistering headache. Having gone through this myself a few months ago, there are few things more stressful than moving out. 1/14/2024 0 Comments Applescript indigo serverThis allows you to create something which behaves similarly to how Insteon direct links between devices work. Match On State to Device will match any number of devices that support a binary (on/off) state to a specified device. We’ve added several new Light/Appliance Control actions to help you create scenes more easily. Finally, check out the Indigo and Python wiki article to learn more about scripting Indigo using Python and the Indigo Object Model. This will write the information to Indigo's Event Log window for easy perusal. To further assist with converting AppleScripts, we’ve added a new menu item to the Help menu, Show AppleScript Usage in Event Log, that will identify items that need to be updated in your database (Indigo also does these checks on server startup). This makes creating powerful script conditionals possible using Python's simple syntax and Indigo's object model for inspecting and testing device states, variable values, and more. We also have a great community sub-forum where you can post your AppleScripts and get help (often within hours) converting them to Python or suggestions of newer non-scripting solutions (like Plugins).īecause Indigo 7.4 no longer supports AppleScript conditionals in Trigger and Schedules, we've added the ability to use embedded Python script conditionals. We have an article on our website that discusses a variety of solutions to replace any AppleScripts that you have that target the Indigo Server, and we will continue to update that article with more information as different solutions are identified for conversions. Scripts that don’t target the Indigo Server will continue to work if executed as a script file from the Execute Script action. With the release of Indigo 7.4, we are officially deprecating AppleScripts that target the Indigo Server directly ( tell application "IndigoServer" and using terms from "IndigoServer") as well as disabling embedded AppleScripts in Conditions and Actions. As we wrote in a blog post several years ago, AppleScript is not the future of Indigo scripting/extensibility, but we wanted to give customers as much time as possible to convert. One major reason that we didn’t move to it sooner is because our AppleScript implementation is dependent on libraries that are not 64-bit. While the Indigo GUI client and plugins have been 64-bit for a long time, we’ve been delaying the implementation of a 64-bit version of the Indigo Server for a variety of reasons, but with Catalina we no longer have an option. With the macOS release of Catalina, Apple has begun requiring all applications to be 64-bit. New General Features and Usability Improvementsīug Fixes, Scripting and Developer API ChangesĪs we state above, the primary feature of Indigo 7.4 is compatibility with macOS Catalina (10.15), including support for macOS Dark Mode. MacOS Catalina Support and the end-of-life of AppleScripts targeting Indigo Server The changes in 7.4 can be grouped into four categories: The primary focus of these releases was to make Indigo fully macOS Catalina (10.15) compliant with 64-bit versions of all Indigo processes. We are pleased to announce the release of Indigo 7.4.0 and 7.4.1. 1/13/2024 0 Comments Archy meaningIn this sense, oligarchy can be thought of as the opposite of democracy-at least based on the roots of each word. Instead, it’s based on the fact that only a few powerful people control things. The word oligarchy does not imply a specific political doctrine or philosophy. It comes from the Greek oligarchía and is formed from oligo-, meaning “few,” and -archy, meaning “rule” (the same ending is used in words like monarchy and anarchy). The first records of the word oligarchy come from the 1570s. Įxample: The members of just three families have run the country as an oligarchy for decades, serving only their own interests. These figures are frequently called Russian oligarchs and are sometimes referred to collectively as the Russian oligarchy. The word oligarch is especially associated with and applied to Russian figures known for their wealth and political influence. One of the select few who rules or influences leaders in an oligarchy can be called an oligarch. Oligarchy can also refer to the class of people who have the power in this kind of system, as in T he country was run by an oligarchy consisting of a few powerful industrialists. It is frequently used as a way of pointing out the influence of the wealthy and powerful in politics and government-an influence that’s typically used to benefit themselves.Ī country that is thought to have an oligarchic government can also be referred to as an oligarchy, as in Many outsiders view the nation as an oppressive oligarchy. Oligarchy is never used as an official term for a form of government (like monarchy is, for example)-it’s almost always applied as a criticism of such situations. This can mean that these few people are the actual leaders, or that they influence or control the decisions that the leaders make (that they’re the ones “ pulling the strings” behind the scenes). Oligarchy is a term for a government in which power is held by a select few individuals or a small class of powerful people. 1/13/2024 0 Comments Atom u boot nautilusUSS Nautilus SSN-571 Erstes Atom-U-Boot am Nordpol Kapuzenjacke. 1/13/2024 0 Comments Safelog pilot logbook reviews 2017Should the logbook be in the cloud or on a local desktop or laptop? The creator of weighs in on electronic logbooks. That takes care of those with many hours, but there are other issues to consider, such as whether the FAA will accept an electronic logbook, security, and transfer of the logbook to another system. Berman suggests determining where you want to start the electronic logbook and creating huge dummy flights to represent the earlier hours. They can cover 1,000 hours of single-engine time by listing just four flights. For example, some pilots list a single flight of 250 hours because all the hours were similar, such as flying a single-engine airplane during the daytime in good weather. owner Eric Berman-who spent 20 years at Microsoft and Expedia before retiring to aid and fund conservation, energy, and environmental causes-has this answer for pilots contemplating moving thousands of hours over to electronic logbooks, one flight at a time: “Don’t.” (He formed his free online logbook as a way of giving back to aviation and has 60,000 pilots signed up.) What pilots have done in the past is to take all flights of one type, such as single-engine land airplanes, and list them as one long flight. If you have 10,000 hours and have never entered any of the flights into an electronic logbook, adding them all could seem daunting. For example, your insurance company may need only the last year of flights plus a total number of hours, meaning you needn’t enter every flight made over the past decade. The company is aware that many pilots have thousands of hours accumulated outside of using ForeFlight for navigation, charts, flight planning, and airport information, and suggests shortcuts.
